Overview

Scope of Position

Reflecting an unparalleled commitment to service and exceeding guest expectations are the hallmark of our banquet operation. As a Convention Services Houseperson, you will uphold that initiative and present our best image to guests by providing set-up and break down support, set-up and service beverage stations for events, and organize supply and storage areas. Your efforts to deliver services without impression of intrusion will have a direct impact on overall guest experience, cost of events to hotel for set-up (including wait staff performance) and our guests’ intent to return.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Set-up and breakdown of tables, chairs, linens, meeting supplies, water, glassware, dishes.
  • Coordinate daily schedule of set-up, refreshments and breakdown of rooms.
  • Coordinate linen requirements with laundry operation.
  • Maintain storage areas in an orderly and safe fashion.
  • Provide coffee and beverage services as directed by Banquet Management.
  • Provide cleaning of rooms, to include shampooing as required.
  • Maintain all service areas in a clean and safe manner.
  • Deliver guest requested services and product as directed for Banquet Management.
  • Perform cleaning functions on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Convention Services or Banquet Managers.
  • Responsible for practicing, managing and promoting our Mission and Values so that it becomes an intricate part of the everyday operation.

Qualifications

Required Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • The ability to walk, talk, stand, touch, feel, hear, see, and reach; to walk for extended periods of time or for considerable distances; to stand for a considerable time
  • The ability to frequently lift and or carry objects weighing 60 pounds.

Education

  • High school diploma preferred or equivalent experience. 

Language Skills

  • Fluency of the English language is required (read, write, speak)
  • Additional fluency in languages preferred

Schedule Requirements

  • The operations of Seaport are 24 hours a day 7 days a week, inclusive of all holidays.  Therefore, your schedule must be flexible to meet the needs of the business accordingly. Working nights, overnights and weekends will be necessary.
