Job Summary

 

The Entry Cook plays a vital role in supporting the daily culinary operations by assisting with basic food preparation, organization, and station maintenance. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates eager to grow their culinary skills in a high-end resort kitchen while learning proper food handling, sanitation, and kitchen teamwork.

Shift & Schedule Availability: Year-Round / Full-Time
Pay Range: $17 – $18/hour. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic food prep, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
  • Follow prep lists and recipes as directed by senior cooks and chefs.
  • Set up and break down assigned stations before and after service.
  • Stock and maintain cleanliness of coolers, dry storage, and prep areas.
  • Assist with plating and garnishing dishes during service under supervision.
  • Maintain proper food storage and labeling practices to comply with safety guidelines.
  • Support banquet and event production by prepping and organizing supplies.
  • Transport ingredients and kitchen tools between prep stations as needed.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen tools, prep tables, and service areas throughout the shift.
  • Comply with all safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with other cooks and stewarding staff to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen or food service experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen tools and food handling procedures.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
  • ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to cleanliness and safety.
