Job Summary

To assist guests with baggage and any item they possess during arrival and departure; park and retrieve parked vehicles from the garage. Store and maintain the organization of member belonging (bins, ski gear, bikes, golf clubs, etc.) Always extending the highest level of personalized service to all guests.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Arrive at the Austria Haus on time and be present the entire length of shift, unless coverage has been secured.
  • Arrive at the Austria Haus in a neatly groomed and acceptable manner in proper bell uniform as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain teamwork focused attitude, displayed in a helpful and friendly manner towards co-workers and managers.
  • Serve guests in every possible way, exhibiting a friendly and positive attitude to ensure an enjoyable and relaxing stay.
  • Control traffic at the front of the hotel and garage.
  • Maintain a constant presence in the lobby at bell station to ensure guest satisfaction in a timely manner.
  • Assist all guests with luggage and any item to and from rooms.
  • Greet guests as they arrive and introduce them to the front desk agents to facilitate check-in procedures.
  • Drive to and from long-term storage to pick up and return Club members’ bins in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Deliver bins, ski gear, and any other member storage items to the corresponding condo upon check-in of guest, or at anytime during the guest’s stay.
  • Store and maintain the organization of member belongings (bins, ski gear, bikes, golf clubs, etc.)
  • Ensure member ski equipment is moved from upstairs ski closet to downstairs ski storage when no longer in use.
  • Assist in advising guests of all events and activities happening at the Austria Haus.
  • Deliver and pick up guest’s misc. needs or items when appropriate.
  • Maintain the appearance of the front of the hotel, inside and outside.
  • Assist guests with any questions they may have regarding locations around Vail and direct them as best as possible to their desired destination.
  • While assisting in the guest’s check-in to the room/condo, the bell-person must explain the features and amenities associated with the room.
  • Ensure the guest is always able to find any location in the building they may need. Accompanying the guest to the location is preferred.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions or suspicious activity to the Manager on Duty.
  • Maintain accurate key control including sign-in and out of all keys and radios.
  • Maintain accurate key control for all vehicles that have been parked.
  • Performs daily cleaning/maintenance of bell carts.
  • Perform any additional duties requested by Operations Manager or General Manager.
  • On occasion, the bell-person will be required to transport guests to and from local locations.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of hotel vehicles. Responsible for keeping vehicles fueled.
  • Assist concierge in the storing of items received or shipped as needed.
  • Assist concierge with various duties as required. (flower delivery, amenity delivery, package delivery, grocery delivery, etc.)
  • Communicate consistently with every department (concierge, maintenance, hskp, front desk, management) at any time necessary to ensure smooth guest service and efficient hotel operation.
  • Make sure guest vehicles fit through the garage door. Always ensuring the vehicle is under the clearance of 6’ 9” and 17’ long.
  • Help answer the concierge and front desk phone.
  • Smile and greet every guest especially when they’re in proximity.
  • Provide quick and efficient service
  • Remember guest names and use them often in interactions.
  • Offer assistance and provide options to guests.'
  • Emphasize creating a positive guest experience and building lasting connections by thanking guests and inviting them back.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Able to operate all makes of automobiles. Valid Colorado drivers license. Ability to drive manual preferred.
  • Good physical condition, able to carry heavy loads.
  • Excellent communications skills, attention to detail, ability to “think on your feet”, and must be well organized as well as personable and polite.

Typical Working Conditions:

  • Most of the work takes place outside in all weather conditions.
  • Heavy lifting is to be expected.

Typical Physical Demands:

  • This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the shift. The role involves frequent bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling of luggage and other guest items weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier loads as needed. The Bell Attendant must be able to climb stairs, maneuver luggage carts, and work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Manual dexterity and mobility are required to handle guest belongings and perform job-related tasks safely and efficiently.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly compensation of $20.00 – $21.50, based on experience
