Overview

The Personal Trainer/Group Fitness Professional will hold a Nationally accredited personal training certification and group fitness certification. They will be a key contributor to the success of the Health Club.   The position will be responsible for conducting one-on-one training, small group training and group fitness classes. Assisted stretching may also be included in the scope of this position. As a Wave Health & Fitness representative who directly interacts with guests and members frequently on an individual and personal basis, your friendly, professional, and enthusiastic approach will enhance the value of our service.

 

To succeed, you must be fitness-minded, passionate, able to anticipate member and hotel guest needs, and respond professionally with a solution driven mindset to any challenges or issues that arise. Becoming familiar with the membership of the club and knowing their fitness goals and interests will allow you to advise on the services and programming in the club. This position will report directly to the Health Club Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide complimentary Discovery Session for prospective clients informing them of the benefits of personal training and reviewing their reasons/goals for hiring a Trainer.
  • Perform two complimentary 30-minute training sessions for prospective clients taking them through basic strength, flexibility and mobility exercises to evaluate their current fitness level.
  • Conduct 1:1 personal training session for paid clients.
  • If qualified, conduct assisted stretching sessions.
  • Instruct Group Exercise Classes including strength, HIIT and mobility classes.
  • Develop a program specifically tailored to clients’ goals, physical limitations, medical history, and fitness evaluation results.
  • Keep track of client's session status and sell new packages as necessary.
  • Monitor, engage and instruct participants in the fitness center on safe and effective use of cardiovascular, flexibility, and strength training equipment within the facility.
  • Assist in monitoring fitness equipment to ensure safety and functionality of all equipment.
  • Assist members and guests on general fitness questions as needed.
  • Conduct quarterly workshops related to strength, fitness, mobility, form, etc.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Nationally accredited personal training certification required
  • Nationally accredited group fitness certification required
  • CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of personal training experience
  • Strong customer service and communication skills required
  • Healthy, fitness-minded, knowledgeable, and comfortable with the fitness and wellness environment
  • Strong organizational skills, basic computer experience and the ability to multi-task

Schedule Requirements

The Fitness and Personal Training Specialist will be required to work a varied schedule depending on business volume. This can include evening and weekend coverage.
