Overview

The ARLO Lead Bartender sets the tone behind the bar—crafting exceptional cocktails, leading by example, and ensuring every guest experience at ARLO is memorable and elevated. This role combines hands-on mixology with team leadership, training, and bar operations oversight. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in upscale dining or craft cocktail programs and thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Pay Rate $18.25 #towncountrySD 

Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Beverage Execution

  • Prepare and present cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages with precision, speed, and flair.

  • Deliver warm, professional, and engaging service consistent with ARLO’s elevated and creative style.

  • Anticipate guest needs and provide personalized recommendations.

  • Ensure consistency and excellence in drink recipes, garnishes, and glassware presentation.

  • Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization at the bar.

Leadership & Training

  • Supervise and support bar staff during shifts, ensuring smooth operations and teamwork.

  • Train bartenders and barbacks on recipes, service standards, and responsible alcohol service.

  • Lead pre-shift meetings and beverage tastings to keep the team informed and motivated.

  • Foster a positive, hospitality-driven culture behind the bar.

Operations & Inventory

  • Maintain inventory levels, track usage, and assist in ordering and restocking supplies.

  • Monitor bar par levels, control waste, and support cost-management efforts.

  • Oversee cash handling, POS transactions, and accurate nightly reconciliations.

  • Collaborate with management on seasonal cocktail development, wine selections, and menu updates.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to state and local alcohol service laws and company policies.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.

  • Immediately address any safety or guest service concerns.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of bartending experience in an upscale or high-volume restaurant, resort, or craft cocktail bar.

  • Prior leadership or bar lead/supervisory experience strongly preferred.

  • Deep knowledge of mixology, spirits, wine, beer, and beverage trends.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism.

  • Must hold a valid Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification (or equivalent).

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds (cases, kegs, boxes, or bar equipment).

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting while stocking and preparing beverages.

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to measure, pour, and garnish drinks with accuracy and flair.

  • Ability to move quickly in confined spaces and handle multiple orders simultaneously.

  • Must be able to hear and communicate clearly with guests and team members in a lively, high-volume environment.

  • May be exposed to varying temperatures, including outdoor service areas and refrigerated storage spaces.
