Job Summary:

The Manager of Outdoor Pursuits oversees the daily operations, programming, and staff management for all outdoor recreation activities at Black Desert Resort. This includes hiking, biking, UTV excursions, and other adventure offerings. The manager ensures safe, engaging, and memorable guest experiences while supervising guides, coordinating logistics, and collaborating with multiple resort departments. Reporting to the Director of Recreation & Outdoor Experiences, the Manager plays a hands-on leadership role in program development, scheduling, and guest interaction.

Pay Range: $68,000 – $75,000/year. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

• Manage daily operations of the Outdoor Pursuits department, including guided tours  and adventure programs.
• Recruit, train, and supervise activity guides, ensuring safety standards and exceptional service delivery.
• Develop and schedule outdoor programming, balancing guest demand, seasonal offerings, and operational resources.
• Serve as point of contact for guests, responding to inquiries, customizing experiences, and resolving issues promptly.
• Ensure all activities comply with safety protocols, liability guidelines, and resort policies.
• Collaborate with departments including Membership, Food & Beverage, Rooms, and Engineering to integrate recreation into the overall guest experience.
• Maintain outdoor equipment, vehicles (UTVs, bikes), and gear, coordinating repairs and replacements as needed.
• Track participation, guest satisfaction, and financial performance; prepare reports for leadership.
• Support resort-wide events, tournaments, and special activities requiring recreation involvement.
• Act as Manager-on-Duty for Outdoor Pursuits

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Hospitality, Outdoor Leadership, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of management experience in resort, recreation, or outdoor adventure programs.
• Strong knowledge of outdoor sports, adventure safety, and guest experience best practices.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification required; Wilderness First Responder preferred.
• Knowledge of UTV operations, hiking safety, and regional outdoor activities.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
• Passion for outdoor recreation, adventure sports, and luxury hospitality.
• Extended hours expected during peak resort seasons, tournaments, or group events.
• On-call availability may be required for emergencies or last-minute guest requests.
