Area Director of Sales - Outbound Hotels

 

Are you a dynamic sales leader with a passion for driving multi-property results and fostering Curated Experiences rooted in Vibrant Communities?

 

We are seeking the Area Director of Sales to lead the strategic revenue generation for the Outbound Hotel portfolio (Jackson Hole, Mammoth Lakes, Stowe, Sedona, and Yosemite). This role requires an entrepreneurial, results-driven professional ready to accelerate success across multiple unique locations.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Lead Area Strategy: Define and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for all Outbound Hotels, ensuring alignment with brand standards and maximizing performance across the entire portfolio.
  • Accelerate Sales Growth: Build and accelerate sales across the group, transient, and leisure travel segments, leveraging existing relationships and establishing the brand’s dominant position within defined competitive sets.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Proactively recruit, hire, and mentor a diverse, high-caliber sales team, coaching them to optimum performance levels while fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.
  • Sales System Acumen: Demonstrate strong sales system acumen for Delphi, ProfitSword, and Amaze, actively utilizing them for key sales functions (e.g., account management, group bookings, reporting), and holding team members accountable for accurate data entry and consistent system usage to ensure reporting integrity, accuracy, and revenue optimization.
  • Strategic Revenue Management: Utilize sophisticated financial and quantitative data to drive business strategy, establish realistic budgets, and ensure the realization of projected revenue results for all five properties.
  • Community & Partnership: Cultivate strong community ties and local partnerships that enhance the property’s reputation as a Gateway to Discovery, driving revenue through mutually beneficial collaborations and integrated local efforts.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate effectively with the corporate Revenue Management, E-commerce, and Marketing teams to ensure sales tactics are fully integrated with overall brand campaigns and online distribution strategies.
  • Annual Planning & Strategy: Contribute to annual business plans, market-specific strategies, and comprehensive sales and marketing budgets designed to secure top-line growth and maximize market share across the portfolio.
  • Brand Advocacy: Serve as the professional face of The Outbound brand, utilizing clean communication and presentation skills with ownership groups, key industry influencers, and meeting planners to secure major sales success.

Qualifications

Who You Are:

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and possesses an innate desire to build Vibrant Communities around a lifestyle brand.

  • Experience: At least five years of multi-unit or complex hotel sales leadership experience.  Mountain destination experience is required. 
  • Education: A college graduate (bachelor’s degree preferred) in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Leadership Style: A dynamic, enthusiastic, and creative leader who excels under pressure, is proficient at managing multiple functions, and has a proven history of meeting ambitious sales goals.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: A true entrepreneur with an initiative-taking, organized, and personable approach to leading both people and strategy.
  • Technical Acumen: Proficient in leveraging sales technology, revenue management systems, and general computer knowledge including social media platforms and online distribution channels.

Salary range: $140,000 - $150,000/yr. + 30% bonus
