Overview

The Barback supports the bartenders and service team in creating a warm, memorable guest experience. This role ensures the bar is fully stocked, clean, and organized while maintaining the highest standards of safety, sanitation, and hospitality. The Barback works behind the scenes to help the operation run smoothly and efficiently during service.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist bartenders by restocking liquor, beer, wine, glassware, garnishes, and supplies throughout service.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar stations, shelves, and storage areas.

  • Support bartenders in preparing mixers, juices, and garnishes prior to and during shifts.

  • Remove trash, recycling, and empty bottles regularly to maintain a clean work area.

  • Ensure ice bins are filled and bar equipment is sanitized and functioning properly.

  • Assist in opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, and cleaning tasks.

  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest and team needs.

  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines in accordance with property and brand standards.

  • Uphold The Virginian’s service culture by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and integrity.

Qualifications

 

  • Previous barback or hospitality experience preferred but not required.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
