Overview

The Seaport Hotel is seeking a skilled and service‑focused Engineering Mechanic to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will help ensure the comfort, safety, and satisfaction of our guests and team members by responding to maintenance needs, performing preventative and corrective repairs, and supporting the overall operation of the property.

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Guest Rooms & Public Areas

  • Perform maintenance tasks including plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing hardware, plumbing, electrical fixtures, HVAC equipment, lamps, outlets, cosmetic items, and assisting with TV programming and high‑speed internet issues.
  • Conduct routine and preventative room maintenance for all hotel buildings and equipment.

Fire/Life Safety

  • Monitor and understand the hotel’s fire alarm and life safety systems.
  • Respond to emergencies and maintain working knowledge of fire sprinklers and emergency power systems.

Tools & Equipment

  • Maintain, clean, and secure all tools and equipment.
  • Ensure assigned tools are accounted for and kept in proper condition.

Emergency Response

  • Respond promptly to emergencies to protect guests, associates, and property.
  • Communicate all incidents to Engineering Management and assist in restoring normal operations.

Safety & Accident Prevention

  • Maintain a safe work environment and correct hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Follow all safety, emergency, and hotel policies.

Logs & Records

  • Read, record, and interpret data from gauges, meters, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs and communicate issues to other shifts.

General & Department Support

  • Keep engineering areas clean and organized.
  • Communicate supply needs; follow up on materials and work orders.
  • Provide training and technical support to engineering colleagues.
  • Partner effectively with operations teams.
  • Represent the hotel professionally and support Seaport’s sustainability practices.
  • Uphold the hotel’s Mission and Values in daily work.

 

Qualifications

Experience

  • Previous hotel experience preferred, but not required.

Education

  • High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent required.
  • Trade school training preferred.
  • Universal Refrigerant EPA Certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English (read, write, speak) required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and interpret instructions, memos, correspondence, and work orders.
