The Resort Manager oversees daily operations across departments, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong team performance, and alignment with the resort’s luxury standards and growth goals.

 

Job Summary

 

The Resort Manager serves as the operational heartbeat of Black Desert Resort, overseeing the day-to-day guest experience across all departments and ensuring that every touchpoint reflects the resort's standard of refined, adventure-forward luxury. This highly visible leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, leading a large multi-department team, and delivering exceptional service across a complex, luxury resort environment.

 

Partnering closely with the Managing Director and department leaders, the Resort Manager plays a critical role in shaping the overall guest experience, strengthening team performance, and supporting the continued growth and success of one of the most ambitious resort destinations in the American West. The ideal candidate will bring high-level leadership experience, strong business acumen, and a passion for delivering world-class hospitality experiences.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities including but not limited to

 

  • Oversee all resort operations including rooms, food & beverage, spa and recreation to ensure seamless, luxury guest experiences.
  • Champion the resort's "Luxury Your Way" philosophy by maintaining consistent service standards across all outlets and guest-facing teams.
  • Partner with department heads to align quality benchmarks and operational goals.
  • Monitor guest feedback, online reviews, and satisfaction scores to continuously elevate service delivery.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a large, multi-departmental team of hospitality professionals.
  • Partner with HR on recruiting, onboarding, training, and retention strategies.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, warmth, and genuine hospitality across all staff levels.
  • Manage departmental budgets, forecast revenue, and control expenses to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Identify opportunities to drive ancillary revenue through upselling, packages, and resort programming.
  • Collaborate with the events team to leverage over 45,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space for conferences, weddings, and group retreats.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between catering, and operations for group bookings and high-profile events
  • Support the Managing Director in executing long-term resort strategy and growth initiatives as the property continues to expand.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and Southern Utah tourism developments.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive hospitality leadership, with at least 3 years in a senior operations role at a luxury resort.
  • Proven experience managing large, multi-outlet properties (rooms, F&B, spa, golf, recreation preferred).
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to lead large, diverse teams.
  • Passion for the outdoors, adventure travel, and the Southern Utah region is a plus.
