Overview

The Director of Group Sales is responsible for driving group sales efforts, developing strategies to maximize revenue, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction through proactive engagement with clients. This role is key to expanding the resort’s presence in target markets and ensuring the success of group sales and bookings. The Director of Group Sales establishes revenue goals and leads initiatives to promote the resort as a premier destination.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve and exceed budgeted group room nights and revenue goals annually.
  • Takes direction and partners with Brand or assigned Marketing Strategist on hotel positioning.
  • Handles key Global accounts at the property level.
  • Analyze critical business/accounts and negotiate best situation for achieving optimum revenue for the hotel while ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Actively participate in sales presentations, property tours, and client meetings.
  • Assist VP of Sales & Marketing with annual hotel strategy and budget, as well as presenting to ownership. Could include monthly ownership meetings as well.
  • Assists in developing rates, group ceilings, and deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management.

Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience in group sales (managing a team of 5 or more direct reports). Strongly preferred in the luxury resort environment. Knowledge of golf would also be desirable.
  • College graduate or strong equivalent industry experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to use them effectively with guests, peers and associates.
  • Comfortable working with and presenting to hotel ownership groups.
  • Expert level use of Delphi, property management systems, Word, Excel, Outlook and other department specific software.
  • Familiar with prospecting tools such as Knowland, Zoom Info, LinkedIn Navigator and Cvent.
  • Strong knowledge of the meetings and convention industry with experience managing a minimum of 20,000 sq. ft. or more of indoor event space.
  • A brand ambassador for luxury lifestyle who lives and breathes the lifestyle of Southern Utah (or similar resort environments).
  • A strong leader with desire to satisfy the needs of others with a proven track record in a similar position.
  • A true entrepreneur that thrives in fast paced environments that are constantly changing. Being nimble and creative will be the key to success.
  • Robust leadership skills needed with a strong track record in mentoring, guiding, and motivating a sales team. Leads by example and achieves best in class employee satisfaction scores.
  • Organized, personable, and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be located on site at Black Desert Resort (remote or hybrid work environment not available for this position as this is a very hands on position in order to accommodate the future growth and expansion needs of the resort).
