Overview

Courtyard & Residence Inn seeks a Room Attendant to join the Housekeeping team.  In this important role you are part of the team that is empowered to provide exceptional cleaning service in guest rooms, guest corridors, and other assigned areas. You will work closely with others who, like you, are fully committed to ensuring that all spaces are clean, warm, and welcoming, encouraging comfort and a memorable guest stay. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Greet and interact with internal and external guests in a genuinely warm and friendly manner using professional vocabulary.
  • Maintain the integrity of the guests’ privacy, including confidentiality of personal information and key control.
  • Provide a warm, welcoming room that creates a memorable first impression.
  • Work safely and be physically prepared to repeatedly bend to make beds and clean bathrooms, carry linens, towels, and trash and push and pull to vacuum.
  • Bring all dirty linen from guest rooms to the laundry area to be washed.
  • Transfer clean linen from the laundry room to the guest rooms.
  • Remove trash from guest rooms and dispose of according to specifications.
  • Make beds, dust rooms to include furniture, fixtures, artwork, baseboards, and window sills, vacuum floors, clean bathrooms, empty trash and refresh towels according to the specifications outlined in hotel standards.
  • Place all items, including furniture, throws, pillows, appliances, glassware, plates, silverware, bathroom supplies, and amenities following brand standards.
  • Maintain organization and supply of cleaning products and linen.
  • Maintain neat and orderly storage closets.
  • Use software program to communicate any deficiencies in rooms and hallways, including but not limited to remote controls, TVs, light bulbs, plumbing, and repairs.
  • Work efficiently to meet daily room requirements.
  • Respond promptly to questions, concerns, and special requests. Follow-up to ensure the guest is satisfied.
  • Solve problems promptly and efficiently.
  • Secure lost items according to the hotel’s lost and found policy.
  • Maintain complete knowledge and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and professional appearance according to standards.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship and support the team.
  • Prioritize assignment for rooms not ready and early check-ins.
  • Knows and follows established cleaning procedures to maintain a high standard of cleanliness for guest rooms according to hotel brand standards.
  • Assists colleagues when own work assignment is completed.
  • Follows proper use of all cleaning fluids and supplies.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment while having an impeccable eye for detail.
  • Share your passion and knowledge to ensure the completion of all cleaning responsibilities.
  • Utilize the freedom to go beyond to take initiative to resolve guest complaints and create loyalty.
  • Collaborate with team members to communicate what you see and hear to staff and management to ensure the guests’ needs are met.
  • Anticipate and respond to guest inquiries by being knowledgeable of all services/features and local attractions/activities.
  • Perform and complete any special projects assigned by management.
  • Cleans lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways, when requested.
  • Stocks and replenishes linen rooms as necessary.
  • Attend required training and meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned, planned or un-planned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience passionately providing service to others and assisting them with creating authentic vacation or travel experiences.
  • People Person. The best part of serving others is creating guest experiences that go beyond the expected.
  • Great communicator. Providing amazing experiences requires the ability to communicate both verbally and through legible and grammatically correct writing.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to walk, stand, and sit 6-8 hours per day and may have exposure to basic office supply chemicals.
  • The team member is occasionally required to climb and use balance.  Additionally, they will frequently be asked to use their hands and arms to reach, carry, pull, and lift up to 30 lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. 
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member will experience temperature fluctuations (rain, wind, heat, humidity), and moderate to high noise levels.
