A hotel restaurant busser is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming dining environment for guests. This role is essential in ensuring smooth service flow, quick table turnover, and a pleasant dining experience for guests.
Table clearing & resetting: Remove used plates, glasses, cutlery, and napkins after guests finish dining; sanitize and reset tables for the next guests
Decorating & setup: Prepare tables with tableware, condiments, and napkins before service begins
Refilling & replenishing: Fill water and wine glasses, replace paper napkins, and restock salt/pepper shakers and other condiments
Assisting servers: Help with food delivery, refilling drinks, and other service tasks when needed
Cleaning & maintenance: Wipe spills, straighten tablecloths, and maintain clean dining areas; close the dining room by cleaning seats, sweeping/vacuuming floors, and removing trash/recycling
Stocking service stations: Keep authorized service stations well-stocked with supplies
Menu upkeep: Keep menus clean, replace damaged pages, and maintain chalkboards
High school diploma or GED preferred
Physical stamina to lift heavy trays and stand for long periods
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Food Handler’s Certificate and knowledge of sanitization/safety procedures
Teamwork and customer service orientation
