The ideal candidate for the Director of People Services role at Hotel Napa Downtown is an experienced, confident, and highly engaged leader with a proven track record of developing and executing people strategies within a luxury hotel or resort environment. This individual will bring firsthand experience leading People Services in a complex operation and competitive labor market, with a demonstrated ability to develop innovative and effective approaches to attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining exceptional talent.

The Director of People Services will have a strong background in training and development, employee engagement, compensation, performance management, and team member relations, as well as a thorough understanding of California employment laws and regulations.

This individual is a team member-centric leader who inspires trust and engagement while maintaining a high level of accountability and performance. They will bring creativity and innovation to compensation, recognition, and support that reflect the evolving expectations of today's workforce. The successful candidate will understand the behaviors, competencies, and service standards required of team members in a Forbes rated luxury environment and will consistently reinforce the attention to detail, professionalism, discretion, and meticulous follow-through essential to the guest and team member experience.

The Director of People Services will serve as a strategic business partner to the Executive Committee and leadership team while remaining actively engaged in the day-to-day operation and culture of the hotel.

Responsible for enforcement of company policies & standards through written material, training, and consistent administration.

• Oversee the day to day operations of People Services to ensure we continue to attract, develop and retain outstanding talent. 
• Lead luxury service standards and engagement training for the hotel.
• Leads team member engagement initiatives, including but not limited to, Connect x Beekeeper, Culture Amp survey platform tool, and property specific engagement and recognition programs.
• Responsible for conducting annual team member opinion engagement surveys, and evaluating and communicating results, as well as works with leadership to drive action planning.
• Ensures company compliance with all wage & hour laws & other regulatory agencies
• Oversees administration of team member benefits.
• Supports leadership and team members by providing coaching, counseling on Team Member relations issues and assists with the appropriate administration of disciplinary action.
• Responsible for overseeing all aspects of Performance Management, including the identification and development of high performers. 
• Responsible for Compensation Administration, including the management of compensation programs through job & market analyses, & makes recommendations on position wage ranges in a systematic and consistent manner.
• Oversee all company-wide training & development programs that are administered in addition to the development of property specific custom training initiatives.
• Partners with Risk Management for safety, loss control, compliance & claims management functions.
• Responsible for People Services budget & forecast
• Participative member of Leadership and Executive Committee

• The ability to balance being a strategic business partner with being a highly visible, hands-on People Services leader.
• Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive People Services/Human Resources experience, including a minimum of 3 years supervising and managing staff in a luxury hotel, resort, or comparable hospitality environment.
• Previous experience working in a complex hotel or resort environment with a demonstrated understanding of the operational demands of luxury hospitality.
• Pre-Opening experience preferred.
• Forbes rated standards training and knowledge preferred.
• Proven track record of success in recruiting, including international and domestic recruiting strategies.
• Strong experience with employee relations, labor relations, and/or union avoidance.
• Previous experience partnering with General Managers, Executive Committee members, and key property leaders to achieve property and organizational objectives.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing training, leadership development, engagement, recognition, and retention programs.
• Strong understanding and experience with compensation administration, market analysis, wage structures, and total rewards programs.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications, or related field.
• PHR or SPHR Certification preferred.
• Excellent command of federal, state, and local employment practices laws and regulations, with strong knowledge of California employment law.
• Computer competency with Microsoft Office products and experience with HRIS and team member engagement platforms.
• Exceptional oral, written, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Energetic self-starter with strong leadership skills, sound judgment, strong work ethic, and the highest level of integrity.
• Demonstrated ability to inspire, develop, coach, and hold leaders and team members accountable while maintaining a positive and service-focused culture.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently demonstrate exceptional follow-through.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive team member and business matters.

Salary Range: $150,000 -$170,000 + Bonus
