Overview

A Dinner Host/Greeter serves as the first impression of the restaurant, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests from the moment they arrive. This role is responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing reservations and waitlists, coordinating table assignments, and ensuring exceptional guest service throughout the dining experience. The Dinner Host/Greeter works closely with restaurant leadership, servers, and support staff to maintain smooth dining room operations during peak service periods.

 

 

Responsibilities

 
  • Welcome guests in a friendly, professional, and engaging manner.
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating arrangements to maximize dining room efficiency.
  • Escort guests to their tables and provide menus while ensuring a positive first impression.
  • Communicate effectively with servers, bartenders, and management regarding table status and guest needs.
  • Monitor dining room flow and assist in balancing server sections.
  • Answer phone calls, provide restaurant information, and assist with reservation inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional host stand and entrance area.
  • Address guest questions, concerns, or special requests promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with maintaining restaurant ambiance, cleanliness, and presentation standards.
  • Thank guests upon departure and invite them to return.

 

Qualifications

  • Previous guest service, hospitality, or restaurant experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Professional appearance and commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences.
