The Senior Spa and Wellness Director is accountable for the department's strategic leadership and day-to-day operations, aligning with the hotel's vision, mission, and values. This role requires adept financial management, effective leadership, exemplary customer service skills at a Forbes Five Star level, and the supervision of departmental requirements and standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Talent Acquisition and Development:
  • Assist in screening and selecting qualified spa candidates.
  • Communicate performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback, mentoring, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Offer coaching and counseling to associates to achieve performance objectives.
  1. Operational Oversight:
  • Ensure Forbes Five Star standards are maintained at all times.
  • Supervise operations in all Spa departments, including treatment rooms, guest reception, wellness, sustainability, partnership with spa pool management, and spa retail.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating systems.
  • Coordinate new hires and ongoing training programs.
  • Partner with the engineering team to ensure the facility maintains Forbes Five Star luxury spa standards.
  1. Financial Management:
  • Develop and monitor financial strategies to increase revenues while controlling operating expenses.
  • Monitor annual budget and forecasts and review monthly financial statements.
  • Implement yield management strategies, inventory management, and purchasing procedures.
  • Adjust staffing levels, spa service appointments, and operational expenses to maximize spa profitability.
  1. Strategic Development:
  • Proactively develop programs, marketing initiatives, and promotions to increase revenue opportunities.
  • Enhance the guest experience and increase the repeat guest base.
  • Create wellness and fitness experiences aligned with guest interests and ability levels.
  • Work with key department leaders in helping create a sustainably responsible resort.
  1. Public Relations and Vendor Partnerships:
  • Support public relations requests and respond to media leads.
  • Establish beneficial partnerships with product, equipment, and supply vendors.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of spa management experience in a Forbes-rated luxury hotel or resort environment.
  • Strong business and organizational skills.
  • Creative energies and the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse spa team.
  • Exceptional skills in running a large spa operation, particularly in a seasonal environment.
  • Ability to create a supportive and nurturing environment that consistently exceeds guests' and associates' expectations.

Experience, Education, & Licensure:

  • High school or equivalent education required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Compensation

Base Pay Start Rate: $120,000/Yr. - $130,000/Yr.
