CoralTree is seeking an exceptional Director of Finance to join our team and play a vital role in shaping the success of Hotel Polaris, an instant icon on the hospitality landscape of Colorado Springs. As the Director of Finance, you will be an integral member of the team that leads the pre-opening efforts and stewards the dynamic relationships across all key stakeholders including, Ownership, CoralTree Hospitality and Asset Management to ensure strategic alignment towards the hotel opening and beyond.  Your efforts significantly influence the unique and distinctive experiences we seek to deliver to our guests and team members alike. Responsibilities

  • Own the finance operations for a sophisticated property, including a hotel, multiple restaurants, bars, and ancillary revenue generating amenities.
  • Manage the daily operations and work schedules of the income audit, payroll and general ledger.
  • Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues, as required to management and ownership. This includes the accurate and timely preparation of cash-flow statements, management of receivables, cash balances, control mechanisms and timely deposits of all funds.
  • Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and ensure the accurate recording in accordance with CoralTree established guidelines and in alignment with the Hotel Management Agreement. Investigate and critique variances to budget or to prior year and offer practical improvement strategies to management.
  • Monitor the capital planning process by assisting management with calculation of return on capital improvements, gathering support and monitoring the bid process, and evaluating scope of work and specifications.
  • Ensure hotels’ compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes and fees. Help management and departmental leaders in enforcing compliance on all these items.
  • Engage with other property leaders, creating a positive and collaborative environment while ensuring that all levels of management are promptly notified of any financial deviations from published forecasts and/or established policies or controls.
  • Embrace a continuous growth environment by actively hiring professional staff and assisting in recruiting, reviewing, recommending and maintaining an inventory of qualified and promotable Associates that can potentially become Controllers, Assistant Controllers, Accounting Managers, and other managers for the organization.
  • Continually focus on training and development programs for both finance associates as and managers/supervisors to cultivate an elevated financial acumen across the organization
  • Supervise the Accounting team including interviewing, hiring and evaluating employee performance.
  • Monitor daily operational and flash reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with the coordination of internal and external audits, and in evaluating results to institute procedures and controls related to findings.
  • Oversee month-end inventories, perform test counts and investigate variances and review the resulting adjustments.
  • Review monthly departmental COGS to ensure the relationship to sales is reasonable and correct.  Investigate discrepancies and implement procedures to remedy incorrect inventory transactions.
  • Monitor and approve all sales, purchases, salaries, and expenses of the hotel.
  • Analyze financial data of operations in order to educate and advise hotel staff and management on the value and benefits of internal controls and maintaining an efficient operation.
  • Assist and counsel all department heads in the interpretation of financial data and recommend courses of action to maximize profitability.
  • Prepare review, and present the monthly financials and the annual forecast projections throughout the year and advise hotel management, corporate office, and owners of any major variances and their impact on the operation.
  • Develop and monitor internal controls to safeguard hotel assets. Maintain adequate internal control over revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities of the hotel and ensure accounts are maintained according to GAAP and Uniform System of Accounts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
  • Hospitality background required.
  • Experience with complex properties including food & beverage.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Experience and confidence presenting to ownership.
  • Solution-oriented leader and team player.

Salary range: $115,000 - $135,000/yr.
