We currently have an opportunity for a well-rounded and seasoned Assistant Director of Safety & Security to join our Pier Sixty-Six Resort opening team!

Reporting to the Director of Safety & Security, you will manage and provide for the safety and security of guests, team members, and resort property in an effective, professional, and guest-friendly manner commensurate with the demands of a five-star resort. Provides such services by legal requirements. Oversees continuous security rounds and inspections of all resort areas, Residences, Marina, and the heart of the house. Directs proactive hotel safety and loss prevention efforts and is responsible for creating an ongoing safe workplace for team members. Conducts investigations and provides timely follow-up concerning all hotel safety-related issues.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate with the Director of Safety & Security the activities of all Safety & Security department teams, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and Pier Sixty-Six Resorts policies and safety standards.
  • Assist the Chief Engineer and General Manager in implementing emergency procedures. Report defects in the hotel, including shortages of equipment & supplies.
  • Prepare work schedules for effective staffing, ensuring efficient operation of the department within specific labor standards.
  • Assist with implementing and ensuring that safety standards are maintained at a superior level daily.
  • Ensure regular patrol of the building, grounds, and parking area of the Resort, Residences, and Marina.
  • Ensure that the Safety & Security team examines doors, windows, and corridors to determine that they are secure. Unlocks those doors necessary for the AM shifts.
  • Ensure delivery of five-star safety and security services to guests and hotel team in a friendly and professional manner
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining good control procedures for the lost and found department.
  • Assist with implementing and managing the risk management and workers' compensation program. Conduct detailed investigations of any work-related injury.
  • Maintain daily logbook and report all incidents, problems, and unusual circumstances to the Resort Manager for comments and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all guest and team member accidents and incidents.
  • Assist with developing and updating all emergency/ fire procedures and ensure that staff is fully conversant with all the above.
  • Handle emergency situations when necessary.
  • Assist with developing, maintaining, and updating preventive safety and security programs and emergency planning.
  • Handle all guest-related incidents as necessary.
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or panhandling.
  • Assists team with managing intoxicated guests.
  • Assist with overseeing and developing the Safety & Security team, including recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating performance.
  • Direct and maintain continuous surveillance of the property to ensure we are proactively identifying opportunities and threats to ensure the safety and security of the team members and guests.
  • Assist with responding to all general liability insurance claims
  • Co-chair property Safety Committee and coordinate all monthly safety meetings and safety programs.
  • Coordinate the timely preparation of all Safety & Security logs, shift reports, and other permanent records
  • Review all reports regularly for completeness and accuracy
  • Compile monthly reports and forward to Hotel Manager
  • Inform the Director of Safety & Security of all matters concerning safety and security
  • Adhere to the Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control program. Train team regarding policies and procedures. Have appropriate equipment located at the resort.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining standards for all investigations.
  • Assist in conducting an annual inventory of all chemicals used by all departments in the hotel
  • Instruct and supervise new Safety & Security team during their first few months of employment
  • Conduct in-service training, including distribution of information about all matters of general interest and policy
  • Whenever feasible, rotate job assignments to expand each Safety & Security team experience and understanding of various safety functions
  • Coordinate with the Director of Safety & Security to conduct First Aid, CPR, fire extinguisher, and safety orientation training for hotel team members
  • Oversee First-aid training of all Safety & Security officers
  • Develop cooperative working relationships between the Safety & Security team and other resort team members and outside law enforcement personnel to promote a timely and effective exchange of information
  • Assist in implementing and supervising key control program, including master key distribution list, control of key blank purchases, and key production
  • Maintain security system and radio equipment
  • Develop and manage a secure, confidential record system that will allow immediate retrieval of incident reports, criminal trespass notices, photographs, and similar information

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

Maintain comparison statistics:

  • Room losses
  • Total number of incidents
  • Number of employee accidents and resultant cost in terms of money and lost work
  • Number of guest accidents
  • Provide an up-to-date list of persons authorized to issue package passes (along with confidential copies of their signatures)
  • Review/maintain accurate daily payroll records/reports, maintaining conformity to established budgetary guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 
  • College Degree, preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in a Security role in a hotel environment
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Valid certification in CPR/AED and first aid or the ability to obtain certification
  • Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving background/criminal history record
