Responsibilities

  • Prepare and Serve Beverages: Skillfully prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccino, latte, and specialty drinks, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
  • Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and provide friendly and efficient service. Engage with guests to enhance their experience, answer questions about menu items, and make recommendations as needed.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the cafe area clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout the shift. This includes maintaining cleanliness of the espresso machine, coffee grinder, brewing equipment, and service areas.
  • Cash Handling: Process transactions accurately, handle cash responsibly, and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently. Maintain accountability for cash drawers and reconcile sales at the end of each shift.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay informed about the coffee offerings, including the origins, flavor profiles, and brewing methods. Educate customers about different coffee options and suggest pairings with menu items.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth operation of the cafe. Assist colleagues during busy periods, communicate effectively, and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety Regulations: Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper handling of food and beverages.

 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a barista or in a similar customer service role is preferred.
  • Passion for coffee and knowledge of various coffee beverages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Cash handling experience and familiarity with POS systems.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift to 30 pounds.
