We currently have an opportunity for a well-rounded and seasoned Engineering Supervisor to join our Pier Sixty-Six Resort opening team!

 

The primary purpose of the Engineering Supervisor at our luxury resort is to oversee and manage the maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems throughout the hotel. This role includes maintaining preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, systems, guest rooms, and public areas. The Engineering Supervisor will lead effective safety programs, coordinate and implement capital MEP improvement projects, manage outside contracts, and ensure the smooth operation of the Engineering department. This position requires strong leadership, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in supervising and coordinating the activities of the Engineering department, ensuring the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of all HVAC, refrigeration, pools/water features, plumbing, electrical, irrigation, life safety, and mechanical systems.
  • Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to ensure reliability, safety, and comfort for all staff, guests, and residents.
  • Oversee the maintenance of guest rooms and public areas using the preventive maintenance program and conserve energy through the utility management program.
  • Anticipate and respond promptly to guests’ and residents’ needs, maintaining positive guest relations and resolving complaints to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain an inventory of all parts, supplies, tools, and equipment related to Engineering.
  • Conduct training programs for new hires and ongoing training for existing staff.
  • Enforce safety regulations and investigate accidents.
  • Ensure all work complies with departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Inspect and maintain all building systems and life-safety systems to minimize downtime, expenses, and discomfort to guests.
  • Practice emergency procedures in compliance with hotel/company standards and assist in hotel emergency situations as needed.
  • Manage the purchasing, inventory, and price-value relationship of all parts and tools.
  • Achieve objectives through direction and delegation, ensuring employees maintain safe conditions and procedures in work areas.
  • Assist Engineering staff as needed.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Chief Engineer.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • High school graduate or equivalent vocational training.
  • 3-5 years of experience in maintenance or engineering.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, national/local fire codes, local mechanical codes, water treatment programs, blueprints, plumbing and wiring schematics, power and hand tools, and meters as they relate to technical trades.
  • Knowledge of all mechanical equipment critical to the operation of the building.
  • Fluency in job-related English, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Ability to provide legible communication and directions.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Ability to prepare budgets, ensure cost controls, enforce resort standards, prioritize and organize work assignments, delegate work, direct staff performance, and follow up with corrections where needed, instruct and direct staff, ascertain training needs, analyze and resolve problems, work well under pressure, understand guest inquiries, provide responses, interact positively, troubleshoot and use alternatives in emergencies, ensure security and confidentiality, and interact positively with resort personnel.

Desirable:

  • Any building trade license/certificate from the state of Florida.
  • 5 years of apprenticeship in a stationary engineers program or 5 years of experience as a maintenance stationary engineer.
  • Ability to communicate in a second language, preferably Spanish.
  • Computer literate.

Physical Abilities:

  • Exert physical effort in transporting a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
  • Reach up to 12 inches.
  • Remain active for eight hours throughout the work shift.
  • Communicate satisfactorily with guests, management, owners, and co-workers to their understanding.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, mites, and chemicals.
