Hotel Polaris is seeking an exceptional Kitchen Supervisor for Stewarding to join our team and play a vital role in shaping the success of Hotel Polaris, an instant icon on the hospitality landscape of Colorado Springs. Responsibilities

  • Able to train and supervise fellow team members in a professional manner with fairness.
  • Check all kitchens for cleanliness daily.
  • Check all paper towel dispensers, making sure they are full as well as soap dispensers.
  • Working with fellow Stewards on the dish machine and assisting them in any way you can.
  • Check loading dock for cleanliness and organization of equipment daily. Clean if needed.
  • Check all hotboxes and speed racks periodically for cleanliness. If dirty, clean yourself or assign to the steward to clean.
  • Ensure all stewards, as well as yourself, are always working and keeping busy, unless otherwise on their 15 or 30 minute scheduled breaks.
  • Check all Steward’s work before they leave, ensuring that all work areas are clean and organized, and everything is put way in its proper place at the end of their shift.
  • Maintain a professional manner and leading by example.
  • Know and actively practicing the hotel’s safety guidelines.
  • Must know, teach, and learn all kitchen chemicals used in the department, using them in the proper fashion and showing employees how to use them in a proper way.
  • Requisition out all China, Glass, and Silver over 5o pl. to the appropriate Event Orders when needed for Breakfast, lunch, or dinner on that day or the evening before.
  • Set up all Plated Lunches and Dinners for the Banquet Kitchen and Pastry Shop as needed.
  • Ensure that the Banquet Chef has the proper hotboxes, speed racks, and proper equipment for daily Banquet functions.
  • Ensure all Stewards are assigned to their proper workstations and scheduled work areas.
  • Periodically straighten up and organize storeroom when needed. Make sure all glasses, plates, silver, etc. are in their proper place.
  • Close kitchens every night assuring that Banquets and Outlet kitchens are cleaned, organized, and shut down properly.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a hotel stewarding department is required.
  • Experience at a comparable AAA Four Diamond/Four Star hotel and/or resort is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, food products, and food service equipment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Valid Food Handlers and SERV Safe required upon hire.
  • Must have strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays. 

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to walk, stand, and sit 8 to 9.5 hours per day and may have exposure to cleaning supply chemicals.
  • The team member is occasionally required to climb and use balance. Additionally, they will frequently be asked to use their hands and arms to reach, carry, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
