South Florida’s beacon of hospitality, Pier Sixty-Six Resort is returning to Fort Lauderdale with an opening date of late 2024. We currently have an opportunity for a well-rounded and highly experienced Director of Health & Wellness to join our Pier Sixty-Six Resort opening team! Reporting to the Director of Club Operations, this role requires a dedicated leader who is committed to advancing the health & wellness initiatives across the property and for the Club and residents.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the fitness and wellness program across the property, including the Club, the Hotel, Marina and Residents.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute special events that focus on fitness and wellness.
  • Develop and lead the wellness program in collaboration with the Spa Director where appropriate.
  • Develop and foster partnerships with the leading experts in health & wellness to provide talks, events and cutting edge and personalized options for members and guests.
  • Engage writers, influencers, doctors, and other experts in the wellness space who can contribute to our programming.
  • Cultural enrichment: Develop in person events and written programming around training, injury-prevention, mindfulness and sports psychology for Wellness newsletter and/or other communications.
  • Work closely with trainers to design customized training and workouts to drive experience and revenue.
  • Create an environment where you can build a strong, cohesive and educated team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, and implement an assessment survey to determine member satisfaction
  • Create a comprehensive procedure handbook for fitness staff.
  • Oversee maintenance and inventory of all fitness area equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct annual review, training, safety and policy manuals.
  • Execute all other assignments given to you by the Director of Club Operations and/or General Manager, as needed

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication skills and a strong, innovative mindset.
  • The ability to react and adjust to changing business environments and lead the team in ensuring efficient financial management of the business.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team of professionals.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in a supervisory role.
  • Experience working with and maintaining fitness equipment.
  • Personal Training certification from a nationally recognized organization.
  • Group Fitness certification from a nationally recognized organization.
  • Experience with student development and personnel management.
  • Fitness/ Wellness program development and management, supervision of para-professional staff, and experience implementing personal training programs for various individuals.
    • Either a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification, or ability to complete within 30 days after date of hire
  • Knowledge of Forbes service standards.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Some travel is required for training, conferences, and special events.
