Overview

You will be an integral member of the team that creates distinctively different and authentic experiences for our guests. Responsible for maintaining the highest quality standards of all woodworking throughout the property. This includes but is not limited to all furniture, cabinetry, doors, wood beams, and molding. Responsible for the operation of all door hardware, closures, panic devices, locks, patio doors, and windows.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily Preventive Maintenance on guestrooms, public areas, and the facility in general.
  • Perform any necessary repairs as needed or assigned in a timely manner to reduce time.
  • Perform repairs, installation, or modifications to include but not limited to, furniture, cabinetry, doors and hardware, patio doors and decking, windows, and the facility in general. These may require the application of any stains, sealants, or strippers.
  • Research, design, and submit shop drawings on specific projects as well as an in-depth cost projection of each. These may require the development of scheduling and completion timelines.
  • Conduct woodshop control and organization of inventory, equipment, tools, and safety equipment.
  • Design, fabrication, installation, and repairs of plexiglass.
  • Design, fabrication, installation, and repairs of shelving, cabinetry, countertops, and furniture.
  • Repairs and installation of locksets, pinning of locks and making of keys, including any necessary documentation.
  • Design, fabrication, installation, and repairs of hotel signage are both permanent as well as temporary.
  • Repair and maintenance of solid wood flooring, stone, and tile.
  • Support and ensure compliance with all Policies and Procedures as designated by Lake Nona Wave Hotel.
  • Report any unsafe condition to your manager immediately.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have extensive carpentry skills and at least 2 years in the hospitality or service industry preferred.
  • Experience with major shop tools including but not limited to, table saw, planer, drill press, sanders, jointer, and grinders as well as various hand and small power tools.
  • Experience in equipment safety procedures
  • Must be familiar with all types of paints, stains, varnishes, lacquers, clear coats, and strippers.
  • Ability to read and write the English language fluently.
  • Strong written, mathematical, and verbal skills and ability to submit concise documentation and communicate effectively with the public and associates.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to provide the highest level of guest satisfaction.
  • Flexibility: The hospitality business functions seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.  In addition, this is a hospitality business, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be always projected.
  • People Person. While this position requires working with equipment, the best part is the opportunity to be part of a team and interact with guests. A qualified applicant is a people person who is flexible with their schedule, loves to troubleshoot, and knows about safety, facility repairs, and maintenance.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to walk, stand, and sit 6-8 hours per day and may have exposure to basic office supply chemicals.
  • The team member is occasionally required to climb and use balance. Additionally, they will frequently be asked to use their hands and arms to reach, carry, pull, and lift up to 30 lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. 
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member will experience temperature fluctuations (rain, wind, heat, humidity), and moderate to high noise levels.
