Overview

The Chief Engineer at Black Desert Resort is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and long-term planning of the engineering, maintenance, and facility operations throughout the resort. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this role ensures the safety, efficiency, and functionality of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and general maintenance systems. The Chief Engineer leads a team of technicians and maintenance staff, ensuring high service standards, regulatory compliance, and a proactive approach to resort maintenance and sustainability initiatives.

Onsite: Black Desert Resort
Shift & Schedule Availability: Year-Round / Full-Time
Pay Rate: $80,000 - $90,000/yr. This is the pay rate we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the daily operations of the engineering department, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures and ensure compliance with all safety and operational regulations.
  • Lead, train, and supervise the engineering team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience that meets the high standards of Black Desert Resort.
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, and planning of facility upgrades and maintenance.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Ensure that all pools and water features meet health and safety standards.
  • Respond effectively to all emergency situations and provide timely solutions.

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering management, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred
  • Proficient in HVAC systems management and maintenance.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and ADA requirements.
  • Experience in budget management and cost control.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
