The Lead Barista plays a key role in maintaining exceptional coffee quality, guest service, and operational efficiency while handling additional responsibilities such as ordering, inventory, and opening/closing duties.

 

Job Summary:

The Lead Barista at Lava Love Coffee Bar is responsible for leading daily operations, ensuring service consistency, and overseeing barista training and support. Reporting to the General Manager, this position handles ordering supplies, managing inventory, and executing opening and closing duties while maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment.

Shift & Schedule Availability: Year-Round / Full-Time

Pay Rate: $16/hr. This is the pay rate we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Responsibilities

· Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and specialty beverages according to Lava Love’s standards.

· Oversee daily opening and closing duties, ensuring the café is fully prepped for service or properly shut down.

· Handle ordering and inventory management, ensuring all ingredients, coffee beans, and supplies are stocked.

· Train and mentor baristas, ensuring consistency in drink preparation, customer service, and operational procedures.

· Provide exceptional guest service, engaging with customers and ensuring an inviting café experience.

· Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following all health and safety standards.

· Assist in cash handling, POS transactions, and end-of-shift financial reporting.

· Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Manager to introduce seasonal drinks and promotional offerings.

· Ensure equipment maintenance, reporting any issues promptly to management.

Qualifications

· Minimum of 1-2 years of barista experience, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.

· Strong knowledge of coffee preparation, espresso techniques, and specialty drink crafting.

· Experience with ordering, inventory management, and supply tracking.

· Ability to train and lead a team, ensuring service consistency and efficiency.

· Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional, and team-oriented attitude.

· Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced café environment.

· Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling procedures.

· Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
