We currently have an opportunity for a well-rounded and seasoned Accounting Manager – 88 Residence to join our Pier Sixty-Six Resort team!

 

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance you will manage and provide be responsible for the oversight and management of day-to-day accounting of the 88 Residence, including the preparation of monthly financial statements, oversight and participation in the monthly close process, payroll processing, and daily management of general ledger positions, income audit, and accounts payable/receivable. This position will assist in managing the accounting team, providing oversight and training to maximize the team’s capabilities while attracting and retaining talent. This position will be expected to be on-site for the majority of each week, with the potential to shift to remote for one to two days a week, depending on job duties and performance.

 

The Accounting Manager will ensure that financials, and their related support, are prepared in accordance with GAAP and that transactions are processed accurately and timely. This position will coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements with the Corporate ensuring that all ownership, audit and tax deadlines are met.

 

This role will be integral in identifying process improvement opportunities, seeking out efficiencies, and implementing technology to allow the team to focus on the highest value activities and reduce redundancy and/or waste in overall process flow.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations and work schedules of the income audit, payroll and general ledger
  • Monitor daily operational and flash reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, including analysis from budget and forecast.
  • Be able to timely answer questions from budget owners regarding financial results; develop a strong working relationship of trust, knowledge, and collaboration
  • Oversee month-end inventories, perform test counts, investigate variances, review the resulting adjustments, and make recommendations on changes to procedures to reduce future variances
  • Review monthly departmental COGS to ensure the relationship to sales is reasonable and correct
  • Manage internal and external audits, institute procedures and controls, as required, to respond to any findings
  • Support all requests for the income tax return
  • Oversee the filing and payment of monthly and quarterly taxes
  • File quarterly workers’ compensation return
  • Provide oversight to the accounting team; actively work with each team member on their development goals and identify training opportunities for further development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in accounting or business administration.
  • 4 to 6 years of progressive accounting experience, with Hospitality and/or auditing experience a strong preference
  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Experience in implementing new technology, changing processes and training team members to fully utilize those improvements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with integrated accounting software systems; experience with Oracle and Procurement software a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, while also applying critical thinking to what the detail is telling you and whether it makes sense within the context of the situation
  • Able to manage highly engaged and effective remote and in-person teams
