Overview

The Storeroom Receiver is responsible to receive all incoming grocery shipments. Examines merchandise for damage, defects, and accuracy.  The Receiver counts, measures, or weighs received product to verify contents of shipments against purchase orders, invoices, or storage receipts.  The Receiver practices safe food handling procedures and is responsible for maintaining organization and cleanliness of all storage areas and hallways.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for receipt and delivery of all goods.
  • Examines articles for defects and sorts articles to extent of defect.
  • Attaches identification data onto article.
  • Records factors causing goods to be returned.
  • Unloads and unpacks incoming shipments.
  • Notifies department heads of received merchandise and any incomplete orders.
  • Corresponds incoming orders with invoices and purchase orders.
  • Assures all incoming materials are high quality and within accordance to the hotel standards and specifications.
  • Signs invoices with proper signature and codes invoices.
  • Maintains the safety and security of receiving dock and merchandise within the area.
  • At all times meets and exceeds hotel standards in food, service, quality, and cleanliness.
  • Follows checklists and standard operating procedures.
  • Reviews and retrieves all requisitions.
  • Check-in & log all deliveries.
  • Distribute deliveries to appropriate storage/refrigerator areas.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of all storage areas.
  • Sweep, mop & sanitize floors in storage areas and hallways.
  • Working knowledge of all products & vendors.
  • Maintain all equipment & machinery (walk-In boxes, refrigeration, hand-trucks & carts) and report to management areas in need of repair.
  • Follow product discrepancy procedures.
  • Retrieve daily receiving documents & requisitions.
  • Document all discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods to orders received.
  • Follow "FIFO" rules "First In, First Out" and rotate product accordingly.
    • Refrigerate cold items immediately, prioritizing frozen & cold products.
  • Follow all labeling procedures including placing tags, dating all proteins / seafood & all pertinent items.
  • Keep record of invoices sent it to the chef office after receiving.
  • Put away all orders in cooler and store dry goods following proper food and safety standards.
  • Keep the main cooler and dry storage always organized and clean.
  • Monitor shelves and keep them always organized.
  • Attends all mandatory trainings and meetings as required.
  • Complete any other task as assigned by management.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School diploma required. One College or technical school preferred. 
  • Minimum two years related kitchen, restaurant, or hotel experience and/or training required.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with vendors, chefs, finance, etc.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50-100 pounds on a consistent basis. Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time. Must have good interpersonal relationship skills.

  • Must be have a FL Food Handlers card.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
