Overview

The Engineering Supervisor at Lake Nona Wave Hotel is responsible for assisting the engineering leadership in all aspects of supervising the property Engineering Department. This position is responsible for providing direction to the engineering staff and the completion of assigned tasks and preventive maintenance programs with an emphasis on the guestroom preventive maintenance program and guest public areas. The Engineering Supervisor will always strive to provide a positive work environment by promoting a professional considerate attitude. The position contributes to the profitability of the property by working within a given budget and controlling expenses associated with the department. The Engineering Supervisor will ensure the exemplary standards of service established by departmental and company core values, policies and procedures are promoted, maintained, and executed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform, assign, and/or verify completion of routine and emergency maintenance and the operation of the physical structure of the property, all mechanical systems and any other systems which affect the operation of the facility.
  • Ensure the highest quality work standards are being performed by staff, in all tasks and assignments according to performance and safety standards.
  • Always ensure the execution of exemplary customer service standards by self and staff, in all areas.
  • Assist with selection, training, supervision, development, discipline, and counseling of staff in accordance with departmental and company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in utilization of on-line work order system and distribute workflow in the most efficient manner.
  • Maintain inventory of parts, supplies, tools, and material for the department.
  • Support and assure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Support and assure compliance of all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist with the implementation of the property’s policies and practices.
  • Assist with the implementation of safety programs.
  • Attend staff meetings if/when requested.
  • Attend Safety Committee meetings if/when requested.
  • Perform any necessary repairs or maintenance as required or assigned.
  • Execute Performance Evaluations for associates.
  • Perform Risk Management duties as assigned or required.
  • Conduct self as a resource for all departments of the property.
  • Always maintain a professional image.
  • Maintain cleanliness and integrity of mechanical areas, shops, tool carts and tools.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by the Director of Engineering or Chief Engineer.
  • Available for emergency contact.
  • Available to work any shift as deemed necessary by Director of Engineering or Chief Engineer.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years’ experience in Facilities/Engineering/Construction environment.
  • Proven track record of leading an efficient work force.
  • Proven ability to take charge and work with minimum supervision. Enjoys challenges and situations where solutions are not obvious. Ability to make correct decisions in a high stress environment. Ability to multitask various problems or assignments.
  • Must have extensive working knowledge of building systems to include, but not limited to; HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, roofs, building finishes, mechanical operations, energy management, Life Safety Systems and Preventive Maintenance programs.
  • Read and understand blueprints, wiring schematics and technical manuals.
  • Experience in coordinating/managing/supervising hospitality capital improvement projects.
  • Working knowledge in MS Office and on-line work order systems.
  • Any licenses or permits required by law for specific job functions, including possessing a good driving record.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand/walk for entire shift.
  • Must be able to work various shifts as assigned.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift to 40 lbs. with assistance.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces, and reach on a continuous basis.
