Suncadia Resort is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and collaborative Director of Conference Services & Events to lead the strategic planning and flawless execution of all group events, conferences, meetings, weddings, and special events across the resort’s diverse venues—including The Lodge, The Inn, Nelson Farm, and additional resort spaces. This role is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of booked events from the initial turnover from Sales through post-event billing and follow-up. The Director will act as the central liaison between clients, Group Sales, Banquets, Food & Beverage, and other operational departments to ensure seamless event delivery. While not directly overseeing the Banquets team, this role works in close partnership with the Director of Food & Beverage and Banquet leadership to coordinate executional excellence. As a member of the property’s leadership team, the Director will represent Suncadia’s commitment to Connection, Harmony, Creativity, Belonging, Appreciation, Joy, and Release—ensuring events not only meet but exceed guest expectations.
Annual Salary: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00

Leadership & Strategy
· Lead the Conference Services & Events team, including Event Managers and Coordinators, to deliver high-touch, high-impact experiences aligned with Suncadia’s brand and standards.
· Develop and implement departmental goals, KPIs, and best practices for event planning, detailing, and communication.
· Actively participate in resort-wide leadership meetings and cross-functional planning to align event execution with broader business goals.
· Foster a collaborative, positive, and highly communicative work culture with Group Sales, F&B, Culinary, Banquets, Rooms, and Recreation teams.
Event Planning & Client Relations
· Serve as the primary contact for all in-house event planning post-booking, ensuring all logistical details are confirmed, documented, and executed seamlessly.
· Guide clients through pre-event planning, site visits, detailing meetings, and walk-throughs while providing expert recommendations and creative enhancements.
· Ensure contract terms and event expectations are met by both client and property through timely and clear communication.
· Oversee group room block performance with support from the Group Rooms Coordinator. Ensure Event Planning Managers (EPMs) proactively manage guest pick up against contracted blocks, lead attrition-related conversations, and support clients in maximizing their room usage.
· Maintain ongoing communication with the Revenue Management team to forecast group performance and mitigate potential shortfalls through early intervention.
Financial Management
· Develop and manage department budget, revenue targets, and expense controls in alignment with the resort’s financial goals.
· Forecast and track departmental performance; review event P&Ls; ensure accurate billing and post-event reconciliation.
· Proactively seek out and secure upsell opportunities for event enhancements, rentals, and services to drive revenue.
Collaboration & Operations
· Coordinate with Banquets and Culinary teams on all BEOs, event logistics, and staffing needs, ensuring alignment across departments.
· Support execution of large-scale resort events and initiatives when needed, particularly during high-volume periods or holidays.
· Maintain deep knowledge of resort spaces, capabilities, and operational nuances to guide event feasibility and flow.
· Collaborate with Sales, Revenue Management, and Group Rooms Coordination to ensure group performance against room block commitments is regularly assessed and reported.
Interactions with Rooms/Revenue Division
Team Development
· Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a high-performing team of Event Managers and Event Coordinators.
· Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and professional development to enhance team performance and career growth.
· Foster a culture of service excellence, creativity, and accountability
· Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Event Management, Business, or related field preferred.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in Conference Services, Catering, or Event Management within a luxury resort or upscale hotel environment.
· Experience managing and mentoring high-performing event or conference service teams.
· Proven ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization and with high-touch clientele.
· Strong understanding of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), room sets, event logistics, and AV requirements.
· Financial acumen related to event forecasting, budgeting, and profitability.
· High proficiency in event management software (Envision preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, and POS systems.
· Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
· Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and be comfortable walking between venues across the resort.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving standards.
· Food Handler’s Permit (or ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire).
