The Assistant Director of Finance plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the financial operations of a high-volume, full-service resort with 671 guest rooms and 295,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, supports internal controls, and leads key functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Handling, Income Audit, and Payroll. Supervise daily operations of the accounting office, including AR, AP, income audit, and payroll
Oversee and ensure compliance with resort-wide cash handling procedures and internal controls
Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and forecasts
Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis reporting
Monitor receivables and aging reports; follow up with clients and departments to resolve discrepancies
Approve invoices, ensure timely vendor payments, and maintain proper AP documentation
Lead and oversee income audit processes; review and reconcile daily revenue reports
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with state and federal laws
Partner with department heads on financial training, reporting, and cost control strategies
Support audits, internal reviews, and external compliance reporting
Act as a liaison between property and corporate finance or ownership representatives
Train and mentor finance team members and support cross-training across accounting functions
Provide coverage and leadership support in the absence of the Director of Finance
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Minimum 4–6 years of experience in hotel/resort accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant director-level role
Strong working knowledge of cash controls, AR, AP, income audit, and payroll
Proficiency in financial software (e.g., BirchStreet, ADP, ProfitSword, or similar systems)
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Strong communication and leadership abilities
Experience in union environment and labor cost controls is a plus
Familiarity with large-scale operations and convention center finance preferred
Must be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods
Occasionally required to walk the property, including visiting outlets, event spaces, and the front office
Must be able to lift or carry up to 25 lbs for document handling or storage needs
Must be able to work flexible hours when deadlines or business needs require
