Overview

The Bartender creates an excellent guest experience that exceeds expectations by preparing and serving classic and innovative beverages. The Bartender assesses guest needs, preferences, makes recommendations, and take orders. A knowledge of mixology is crucial to mix ingredients for alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverages and the Bartender is able to present them professionally. The Bartender will also perform cashiering duties as well as ensuring only guests who are 21 years old and over are served alcohol. Moreover, the Bartender must create a warm, welcoming environment for guests, and ensures each beverage is crafted with care.  

 

The Bartender will always conduct themself in a professional manner with a demeanor that supports the purpose and values (supporting behaviors) at Suncadia. 

 

The Bartender shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal/external guests and team members at all times. They will be responsible for exemplifying the Suncadia Resort Culture as well as promoting Suncadia Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice! 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 
 

  • Meet all established service standards; 
  • Prepare all beverages served in the area of responsibility; 
  • Maintain control of bar area, staff, clientele, guest service, and atmosphere; 
  • Maintain cleanliness of bar area; 
  • Supervise in the absence of the lounge manager; 
  • Perform tasks necessary for opening and closing of the facility to the satisfaction of administration and within inventory needs; 
  • Comply with all Washington State labor, health and safety regulations; 
  • Comply with all Suncadia policies and procedures; 
  • Secure payment for served product; 
  • Maintain issued bank. 

 

GENERAL JOB EXPECTATIONS:

  • Must possess guest facing communication skills;

  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner;  
  • Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all team members and guests; 
  • Promotes high team member morale; 
  • Instills a calm, organized approach in all stressful situations; 
  • Respond and interact with all team members, leaders, vendors and guests in a professional manner assisting with all relevant information requests; 
  • Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all team members, leaders, vendors and guests of Suncadia Resort including use of name & good eye contact with each. Be alert and Courteous at all times. 
  • Remain alert and maintain an up to date working knowledge of all resort amenities, events, hours of operations etc. by daily review of the Yapp App and other communication tools; 
  • Up sell Suncadia Resort’s services and amenities to guests; 
  • Maintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons) and reports all safety incidents to on-duty leader.   
  • Team members must communicate any workplace accident/incident to a leader within 24 hours of the event; 
  • Follows the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials and/or the cleanup of blood, infectious materials, or body fluids containing blood in accordance with the OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen StandardsTeam members not properly trained in the removal of Blood-borne Pathogens should immediately report the need for clean up to their department leadership and schedule training for future incidents;   
  • Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment;  
  • Maintains a professional appearance by following all Suncadia Resort standards with regard to Dress/Uniform Code, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Hygiene, Grooming and nametag requirements. 

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION: 
 

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; 
  • Complete knowledge of mixology; 

 

JOB REQUIRMENTS: 
 

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit; 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include evenings, weekends and holidays.  
  • Must be 21 years of age or older; 
  • Ability to work well with others and function well in a fast paced environment; 
  • Cashiering experience; 
  • Current liquor license and food handler permits required.
