Overview

Town and Country Resort and Our 295,000 sq. ft. convention center is where big things happen—and we need detail-driven Public Area Attendants to help keep it spotless and guest-ready at all times. In this fast-paced role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of all public spaces in and around the meeting and event areas. From sparkling restrooms to fresh carpets and litter-free lobbies, your work makes a lasting first impression on every guest who walks through our doors. Pay Rate $19.90 #towncountrySD

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness of public spaces including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, meeting rooms, pre-function spaces, and back-of-house areas.

  • Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins regularly and safely transport waste to designated disposal areas.

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and spot-clean carpets, tile, and other floor surfaces.

  • Clean and disinfect restrooms: sinks, toilets, mirrors, floors, and fixtures.

  • Dust and polish fixtures, railings, vents, signage, and furniture.

  • Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or unusual conditions to the supervisor immediately.

  • Set up or reposition public area furniture as needed (e.g., during event turnover).

  • Respond quickly to spills or other urgent clean-up requests.

  • Follow all sanitation, safety, and cleanliness protocols according to resort standards.

  • Use appropriate cleaning products, tools, and PPE when handling chemicals and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in custodial, janitorial, or public area cleaning preferred.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Strong attention to detail and time management in high-traffic environments.

  • Reliable, team-oriented, and able to take initiative without constant supervision.

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.


Physical Requirements

  • Standing/Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for 8+ hours at a time across large areas of the convention center.

  • Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift, carry, and dispose of trash bags, buckets, and equipment up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs with assistance.

  • Pushing/Pulling: Regular pushing of supply carts or trash bins weighing up to 100 lbs.

  • Bending/Kneeling/Crouching: Regular use of bending and kneeling to clean baseboards, under furniture, and behind fixtures.

  • Repetitive Motion: Frequent use of hands and arms for sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing.

  • Environmental Exposure: Work in indoor and semi-outdoor environments, sometimes in crowded or loud event spaces; exposure to cleaning chemicals and waste.
