Overview

This position will supervise, train, and inspect the performance of assigned Housekeeping staff ensuring that all procedures are completed to the established standards. This person will assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests. Pay Rate $22.40 #TowncountrySD

Responsibilities

Supervise staff in the performance of all daily procedures to ensure they are performed to standards. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards. Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to assigned staff and review priorities. Inspect guest rooms, guest corridors, elevator foyer area, vending area, service area including linen closet, staff restroom. and storage area. Inspect public areas/bathrooms, restaurants, spa, pool area, offices, and service areas after being cleaned by respective personnel, using designated checklists. Assist staff with their job functions where needed to ensure optimum cleanliness and service standards for guests.

Qualifications

Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, requirements, and use of equipment. Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal. Provide legible communication. Compute mathematical calculations. Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data. Ability to ascertain departmental training needs and provide such training. Ability to direct performance of staff and follow up with corrections when needed. Ability to input and access information in the property management system/computers.

 

Physical Requirements – Housekeeping Supervisor

  • Standing/Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift), including walking long distances between guest rooms and facilities across the property.

  • Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift or carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., linens, supplies, or equipment); occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required when assisting the team or moving carts.

  • Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push and pull housekeeping carts or laundry bins when needed, weighing up to 100 lbs.

  • Bending/Kneeling/Crouching: Regular bending, kneeling, reaching, or stooping to inspect rooms, retrieve supplies, or support cleaning duties.

  • Climbing: May occasionally need to use step stools or ladders to inspect high surfaces or access storage.

  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers for operating radios, using inspection tools, writing reports, and entering data on tablets or mobile devices.

  • Vision and Hearing: Must have good visual acuity and hearing to inspect rooms, read documentation, identify maintenance issues, and communicate effectively with team members and guests.

  • Mobility: Must be able to move quickly and efficiently across a large property in response to staff or guest needs.

  • Environmental Exposure: May be exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, laundry facilities, and outdoor weather conditions while moving between buildings or areas.
